The Baby Boomer Generation was fortunate to grow up with some of the
greatest music of the 20th Century. They witnessed the beginnings of
Rock n' Roll in the 50's; sang to show tunes from "Oklahoma" and "South
Pacific"; surfed, twisted and watusied through the 60's and discoed the
70's away. Mike Healy is one of them.
Burt Bacharach - Dave Brubeck - Jimmy Buffett - Chicago - Duke
Ellington - Carole King
- Henry Mancini - Roger Miller - Rodgers and Hammerstein - Earth
Wind and Fire - Brian Wilson and Stevie Wonder are just
a few of the greats of this era that have influenced Healy's music. But
his style is strictly his own.
A serious student of music in his youth, Mike began performing
part-time in bands while in high school and continued through his
service in Vietnam. Out of the Air Force, he eventually became a
full-time professional musician and toured the country for many years
with his band "Freeway".
Shortly after leaving the road in the mid - 80's to begin a career in
engineering, he found music missing in his life and he began song
writing. With almost 30 songs in his repertoire, Mike is back on the
road, but this time showcasing his own work.
Mike's versatility is amazing, covering genres from: jazz, rock,
country, show tunes, ballads, novelty songs and blues to reggae.
He demonstrates his ability as a lyricist, composer in this CD with his
tongue-in-cheek Christmas ballad, "Merry Christmas to Me" and his
haunting, dark rock n' roll interpretation of the story of "Faust".
Recently, Mike has appeared in Northern California, North Carolina, the
Reno/Tahoe area and New York.
